The real reason for 4/7 swap was in Pro-stock drag race engines. It doubled crankshaft life (less broken cranks). Especially on Big Block Fords. These are of course highly developed engines that turn very high RPM's at very high power levels. Everyone thought it was a power secret, but it is not. In most engines it has NO advantage.
