The early 289 & 302 fords had a 1-5 firing order which were the front two pistons on the left & right, firing one right after the other, it put a lot of load on the little cast crank. Ford switched over to a different order, and all the later model engines have this already, to take some stress off of the crank for the street.In fact you can take a cam for a 351 windsor, drop it in, rewire the cap and you're ready to go! I know they have also done the different firing order for race stuff but i agree its for the big name pros, for us little guys it probably isnt worth it.
